We are not absolutely sure that these phots show the actual Julus scandinavius. There are several look-a-likes and these are difficult to tell apart. Julus scandinavius is a slowly moving species. It probably is the most common millipede in Britain. It is often found in gardens, but elsewhere as well. It lives nocturnally and is active all year round. They are often seen in great numbers in spring. It is their breeding time and that makes them more visible than ususal. Very common all over Britain.
